The Runner

You are The Runner.

Running is one of the most efficient ways to burn the greatest number of calories in the shortest amount of time—it’s a great way to stay fit, and you know it.

As The Runner, you crave freedom and wide open spaces, and you’re always working to go just a little bit further every day. You’re the sort who endures, who doesn’t muscle through obstacles, but rather overcomes them bit by bit, never giving up, never stopping until the race is done. You view life as a marathon, and so you can see the big picture—this serves you well in all of your endeavors.

Watch out, though, that you don’t allow yourself to burn out, whether in life or in exercise. Take time to rest and recover—you can’t keep going forever. And take precautions against injury. For running, this looks like strengthening your muscles through squats, lunges, planks, and mountain climbers. For life, this looks like getting adequate rest and taking time to yourself.

Do this, and you’ll always make it to the finish line.

The Heavy Lifter

You are the Weight Lifter.

Weight training is the road to physical and power, strengthening not only the muscles, but the bones and connective tissues, as well. Those who focus on heavy lifting have bodies that are stronger and more resistant to injury.

As the Weight Lifter, you’re fond of powering through your obstacles, obliterating them with the glee of a Spartan at war. You revel in strength, enjoying the knowledge that you could effortlessly carry someone from a burning building or fend off an attacker with one hand tied behind your back. You likely seek out challenges when none present themselves, always desiring some new peak to conquer. Because of this, you often excel at whatever you put your mind to.

But be careful to remain thoughtful as you take on bigger and bigger challenges. Just as your muscles can pull and tear from incorrect form and too much weight, your life can become difficult when you bite off more than you can chew.

Likewise, take care to read up on form and technique, especially as you climb through the weights. Lift slowly, and breathe out as you exert force. With a little forethought, there’s nothing you can’t conquer.

And just as you need alone time in life, it’s also a great idea to be diverse in your workouts—try something solo every now and again, something that will help break you out of the confining box that predefined workout classes can sometimes be.
