pray for those who hurt you

Have you ever had one of those days where you just felt like you can’t go on? We have all had those days. Some are harder to get through than others. Where do you normally turn for help? Do you turn to music, your faith, prayer? There is a song by the band Building 429, called “You Can”, that puts this hard thing called life into perspective. This song teaches us to remember that as long as we are with Him and have Him on our side, we can get through anything. The lyrics are as follows:

Verse 1: “I’m not a saint, I have no doubt. Here in my weakness, working it out. I am no hero at all. Were You looking for someone else. Who could be as strong as nails? I don’t understand why You would call me. I’ll never make it myself. ‘Cause I need Your help. Chorus: I can’t walk on the water. I can’t stand in the fire. Unless I look into Your eyes.  Unless I have You by my side. I can’t conquer a giant. Or shut the mouth of a lion. I know that I am just a man. But I am in Your hands. And You can.
You don’t have to punish yourself for not knowing everything in your life. You don’t have to constantly think that God shouldn’t call you. You don’t have to constantly think that you aren’t good enough. Yes, this life is hard, but that is why He sent Jesus to help you through the hard times. There is nothing you can’t get through with God at your side. You don’t have to conquer the giants or shut the mouths of the lions that are in your path because God already has and is doing that for you. He will continue to provide for you throughout your life.
Verse 2: Don’t wanna turn and run away. From what You called me to embrace. Give me courage, give me faith. I wanna see the mountains move. I wanna walk the path You choose. Wherever You lead, I’ll follow YouChorus: I can’t walk on the water. I can’t stand in the fire. Unless I look into Your eyes. Unless I have You by my side. I can’t conquer a giant. Or shut the mouth of a lion. I know that I am just a man. But when I’m in Your hands, You can.
Not turning away from what God might have called you to embrace can be a tricky scenario. At times it might seem as though it is easier to just turn around and run the other way because realizing that running away from something or someone that God has placed in your life can be called the path of least resistance. However, the harder the path, the greater the reward from God. Whenever you are tempted to walk or run away from what God is telling you to do do, you’ll feel that nudge of His Holy Spirit on your heart telling you to not back down and push forward even in the midst of the pain. Let Jesus lead where He wants you to go and keep trusting and keep hoping no matter what happens. Remember, without God all of the things that you do on a daily basis would be impossible, but with God all things are possible. Even when it feels as though God isn’t even there with you. He is walking right beside you through the valley of the shadow of death.
Bridge: Keep loving, I keep fighting, keep hoping. Even in the midst of the silence. Keep trusting, keep climbing, keep running. Even when I feel like I can’t. Chorus: I can walk on the water. I can stand in the fire. When I look into Your eyes. When I have You by my side. I can conquer a giant. And shut the mouth of a lion. I know that I am just a man. But I am in Your hands. And You can. Keep loving, I keep fighting. And You can. Keep trusting, keep climbing. I know that I am just a man. But I am in Your hands. And You can.”
Never give up no matter how hard the journey might seem. Even when it feels as though you just can’t go on, remember that the one who shut the mouths of the lions for Daniel and helped Jesus walk on water is the same one who helps you face your hardest battles and the darkest times of your life with courage and with faith.
