appreciating everything
“Overwhelmed” is another beautiful song by the artist Big Daddy Weave. The song talks about how he is overwhelmed by God’s presence in his life. It gives an inside look at how he personally describes God. This song describes how we all can and probably should feel about our Savior. We can be overwhelmed by Him at any time at any place, no matter if it is day or night. A lot of the time it is through song that we become overwhelmed by the presence of the Lord. This song is such a song.   It is awesome to sit back and look at the lyrics as they really are.
1st verse: “I see the work of your hands. Galaxies spin in a Heavenly dance oh God. All that you are is so overwhelming. I hear the sound of your voice. All at once it’s a gentle and thundering noise oh God. All that you are is so overwhelming.” This verse explains how God works in his life and in his heart. He is right that the glory of God is a gentle yet thundering noise all at once. All that God is, is so overwhelming. He made the Heavens and the Earth, along with the seas, and all the creatures in them and all the creatures on land, along with the beautiful creation of the galaxies.
Chorus: “I delight myself in you. Captivated by your beauty. I’m overwhelmed, I’m overwhelmed by you. God, I run into your arms. Unashamed because of mercy. I’m overwhelmed, I’m overwhelmed by you.” We can also delight ourselves in God and we never have to be ashamed to run to His arms because of the mercy that He brings us each and every day. It is so easy to become overwhelmed by Him no matter where you may be in your life. His presence has the awesome power to stop us dead in our tracks when we least expect it.
Third verse: “I know the power of your cross. Forgiven and free. Forever you’ll be my God. All that you’ve done is so overwhelming.” We all know the power of the cross and what it means for us as believers. It is a great honor and privilege to be loved by someone so much that he was willing to die for us and take our eternal punishment upon Himself so we could be united with Him forever. We are forgiven and free forever because of the cross. It is overwhelming to know that God saved us from that eternal punishment that we deserve.
Chorus: “I delight myself in You. In the glory of your presence. I’m overwhelmed, I’m overwhelmed by you. God, I run into your arms. Unashamed because of mercy. I’m overwhelmed, I’m overwhelmed by you.” The glory of God’s presence is overwhelming in itself too. We are always in His midst and in His presence. He is in our midst and will listen when we call on Him, no matter the time, day or night. To know that we can and always do have a one on one connection with Him no matter where we are or what is going on in our lives, should automatically make us think how blessed we are in our lives to have such a great God right by our side. It should also bring us to our knees.
Bridge: “You are beautiful, you are beautiful. Oh God, there is no one more beautiful. You are beautiful, God you are the most beautiful. You are wonderful, you are wonderful. Oh God, there is no one more wonderful. You are wonderful, God you are the most wonderful. You are glorious, you are glorious. Oh God, there is no one more Glorious. You are glorious, God you are the most glorious.” The bridge of the song describes God in different ways, glorious, beautiful, and wonderful. It’s true with how beautiful, wonderful and marvelous He is. He is so beautiful and marvelous that we can’t even begin to fathom the depth of His love for us.
Chorus: “I delight myself in you. In the Glory of your presence. I’m overwhelmed, I’m overwhelmed by you. And God, I run into your arms. Unashamed because of mercy. I’m overwhelmed, I’m overwhelmed by you. I’m overwhelmed, I’m overwhelmed by you. There is no one more beautiful. God, you are the most beautiful. “
We can’t even begin to fathom how beautiful, wonderful and marvelous He is. All we know is that we are overwhelmed by Him in so many ways and that is what makes Him so amazing. He wants us to see Him for who He really is and continue to praise His name in both awe and wonder, as well as to spread the Good News of His awesome presence in our lives.
