matthew-currie-astrology-renee sellwegerI last wrote about Renée Zellweger (born April 25, 1969, 2:41 PM, Baytown Texas) in 2010, when a startled public was focused not on her talent, or her career achievements, but on her face — specifically, what many saw as a botched round of plastic surgery. At that time, she was coming out of transiting Pluto trine her Ascendant. That transit resulted in a surprisingly “cook book” interpretation that was actually true: her face was re-shaped. Literally, reshaped.

Renée more or less vanished from the public’s radar after that. At first, it seemed as if her career arc had followed the classic pattern so often experienced by talented women in Hollywood:

Age 25: Plays teenagers/young women
Age 30: Plays Moms and office employees
Age 35: Plays wife/girlfriend to the lead actor, who is likely aged 45-60
Age 40+: “Hey, didn’t you used to be Renée Zellweger?”

But as it turns out: Pluto may taketh away, but it also giveth. The Saturn-Pluto conjunction may be playing hell with placements in a lot of people’s charts — but we are now seeing the great gift it brings to people born in the second half of the 1960s, and Renée Zellweger is the example I’d like to use to demonstrate that.

Although the Saturn-Pluto conjunction is square her natal Saturn, it is providing a powerful boost for her chart overall. It is trine her natal Jupiter and Pluto. Even more importantly, it is trine her Mercury in Taurus, which is the planet that rules her Ascendant and her Midheaven, and is the ruler of three other planets in her birth chart.

In the last year Renée’s career has undergone a resurgence. She’s turned in some good performances in the last couple of years (admittedly, not in movies most people had heard of or didn’t see). Now, it appears that her career is genuinely taking off again. She’s the star of the breakout Netflix series What/If (in a deliciously soap-opera-villain-ish role) and will be playing Judy Garland in an upcoming biopic. And yes, I know What/If is getting some mixed reviews, but me personally? I’m enjoying it, and nearly everyone is praising Renée’s performance. Who knew what evil lurked in the heart of Bridget Jones?

And as for her face? Well, she’s looking great. Good news, me back in 2010!

There is an important lesson in all this for us born during the second half of the 1960s. Whatever adversities you’ve been through, or are facing now? You’ve made it this far. And now? You’ve now got two of Astrology’s Great Powers on your side.
