Stepping Toward Vulnerability
Did you know that the word "selfie", which is the act of taking a photo of oneself, was the most searched word of 2013? It's a widespread phenomenon that has been primarily blamed on the young adults of today, but has exploded far beyond this generation to all age groups. Selfies have intrigued me for some time, primarily because I feel like most of them are the opposite of egotistical, as so many accuse them of - and they are actually quite revealing and leave the subject unintentionally vulnerable. We can see pain, insecurity, and even fear if we look close enough sometimes. The individual has done something that is so feared in our society: they have exposed themselves and opened the room up for discussion.
Somehow vulnerable has become a bad word - a synonym being weak. But without vulnerability we can't have real relationships, we can't be truly open with each other, and we can never really know anyone else. It's a critical piece of the fulfillment puzzle we all strive to complete. Today I'm sharing three steps toward vulnerability that you can take today - as you move closer to living an authentic life.
