Bo Bichette was "born" to play baseball; his father, Dante,
played professionally for several teams in the 1990s and early 2000s.
The Toronto Blue Jays drafted Bo in the 2016 draft. After a few
seasons in the Blue Jays' minor league system, Bo was promoted to the
major league club in 2019. He promptly set a major league record by
doubling in nine straight games; that streak also made Bo the first
rookie since Ted Williams (1939) with 9 straight games with an
extra-base hit. He helped lead the Blue Jays to the World Series in
2025, but the team lost to the Dodgers in 7 games. Following the
season, Bichette, a free agent, signed a three-year contract with the
Mets.
Bo has been very open about his faith throughout his baseball career.
Prior to game 3 of last year's World Series, he stated: "[His
Christian faith] is everything. My whole life, I've prayed to stay
grounded through all this. Through accomplishments and through
failures. There's no way that I could stay close to who I have been
my whole life without God." During his rookie season with the
Blue Jays, he described himself as "a believer who happens to
play ball."
