Dansby
Swanson is the shortstop for the Chicago Cubs. The
Arizona Diamondbacks originally drafted him after he played college
baseball at Vanderbilt. After one season in the minor leagues,
Arizona traded Swanson to the Atlanta Braves. He was part of the
Braves' World Series championship team in 2021 and, in 2022, was
named an All-Star and won his first Gold Glove award. Following that
season, Swanson signed a seven-year contract with the Chicago Cubs.
On a personal note, Dansby is married to professional soccer player
Mallory (Pugh) Swanson. Prior to their wedding, he said that when
they started dating, she told him: "If we're going to be a thing
and we're going to have a future together, Jesus and God, that is our
foundation." Dansby also said, "He's [Jesus] the one doing
the leading, and I'm just the one on earth that's doing the leading."
Although Dansby has at times struggled with both injuries and
anxiety, he notes that prayer for God's peace has helped him through
his difficult days.
