Finally! After months of trying to get away my wife and I finally had a chance to take a break sans kids.

Now you might be wondering why that’s a big deal. Well, we have 4 kids all 8 and under and we rarely get a chance to get away on our own, so for us, it was a big deal and a nice little break.

Don’t get me wrong, we love our kids and love being with them, but sometimes you just need a break.

So a few months ago we set our intention and decided we needed to have some time together without the kids, just as a couple. If you have kids, then you know what I’m talking about. If not, you will when you have them.

But this article isn’t about my kids or relationship with my wife.

It’s about setting your intention and allowing the universe, God, or your higher power to do the rest and make things happen.

When we first talked about getting a break we thought: “How is this going to happen? Who is going to look after 4 kids under 8 at one time?”

Despite our doubts we decided to set the intention with the full understanding that somehow, someone would step in and look after the kids. Of course we wanted someone reliable and capable. And that’s exactly what we got.

My wife’s cousin, who has 3 kids of her own, asked to let our kids have a sleepover at her place for 2 nights!

Wow, the universe sure stepped in and made things happen. We had a great time away and the kids had a great time at their sleepover.

How To Set Your Intention

Getting what you want in life starts with setting your intention and then allowing the Universe, God, or your higher power do the rest.

So think about what you want and start with something small so you can build your confidence.

You could start by reducing your stress at work. Just set your intention to get things done, get them done on time and finish up early. Here’s how you would set that kind of intention.

First get in a comfortable place and relax.

Once you’re relaxed, close your eyes and just feel the love and warmth of your Higher power, God or the Universe, what ever you want to call this force that connects all of us.

Feel its love and warmth all around you and then simply state your intention.

If you wanted to have a calmer day at work you would say something like:

Hey Universe, God, my higher power I want to have a calm, easy day at work. I’m getting everything done, I’m getting done early and I’m getting done on time. I’m having a terrific day. Thanks for taking care of this.

Then continue to feel the warmth and love all around you. Open your eyes and go about your day.

When you think about your day at work, simply state – I’m having a terrific day, and I’m getting done early – it’s all take care of.

Now comes the important part. Trust and believe that it will all work out.

Unfortunately this is where most people drop the ball. They let their doubts and fears take over. They base their future results on the way things have happened in the past.

When you set your intention you’re creating a new future, you’re creating and attracting what you desire.

What happened in the past is no longer relevant.

The only thing that matters is creating your future and aligning your energy with your higher power to make things happen, which is exactly what you’re doing now.

So trust and believe that you’re higher power, God, the Universe are all working with you and will help you achieve your intention.

Remember, start with something small.

I like to set intentions for my day when I wake up in the morning, even for simple things like having a great breakfast, or having fun with my kids in the morning. Then I set an intention for the afternoon, then for the evening. I’ll even set an intention for a good night’s sleep.

By starting with something small you build your confidence in the process, you believe you can set intentions and create the outcomes you want and then you can move on to bigger and better things.

Go ahead and set your intention for tomorrow and everyday. Let me know how things turn out or if you have a question.
