It’s been a hard year for musicians.

Clarence Clemons, Amy Winehouse, Dan Peek, and now Jani Lane have all passed on.  Jani, lead singer of the ’80s hair metal sensation Warrant, died yesterday of unknown causes.  Warrant was one of the poster groups for ’80s metal success, combining rock talent with solid vocals and catchy hooks.  While things went south for them after the hair band boom, the band had recently reunited and was planning to record another album for its long-time fans.

While none of the passings of this year have really shaken the whole music world, though Clarence Clemons came close, this has still been a difficult year for musicians, their families, and for the fans who love and respect them.  It’s a stark reminder that life is fleeting and to enjoy it and the people who make the music you love.
