Christian country artist Drake White and his wife, Alex, are grieving the heartbreaking loss of their newborn daughter, Della Elizabeth White. The couple announced the news in a joint statement on social media, sharing both their sorrow and their faith in Christ’s comfort.

“On Sunday, August 31st, our precious daughter, Della Elizabeth White, went peacefully to be with Jesus,” they wrote on Instagram. “We are so thankful for the holy moments God gave us with her.”

Alongside their words, the couple posted a tender hospital photo showing Drake holding Alex as she cradled their little girl. The verse accompanied the image: “The Lord is close to the broken-hearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18).

Della was born prematurely at 29 weeks, weighing 3 pounds, 3.5 ounces and measuring 13.25 inches long. She entered the world on August 31 at 8:52 a.m., but just 20 minutes later, at 9:12 a.m., she “peacefully went to be with Jesus,” her parents shared.

In their message, the Whites testified to God’s sustaining presence even in the midst of tragedy. “The Lord has been so near and close to us during this difficult time. He has held us up and sustained us through it all. We are heartbroken and soul tired, but we know we will get through this difficult time with the strength, peace, and joy that only our Heavenly Father can provide.”

They closed their message with words of hope: “May Della be held in the arms of Jesus until we see her again someday.”

The couple, who often share their faith publicly, also included two passages from the Psalms in their post. In addition to Psalm 34:18, they shared Psalm 31:10, 14–15: “I am dying from my grief; my years are shortened by sadness. Misery has drained my strength; I am wasting away from within. But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying, ‘You are my God!’ My future is in your hands.”

For Drake and Alex, these verses became not only words of comfort but also a declaration of faith as they walk through unimaginable loss.

The Whites, who celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary in June, are also parents to a two-year-old son, William Hawk. In May, they confirmed to People magazine that they were expecting their second child after navigating fertility struggles.

“We were able to conceive through IVF and had our frozen embryo transfer in March,” they said at the time. “We found out we were pregnant 10 days later and are due in November.”

Della’s early birth and passing have left the couple leaning deeply on their faith. Both Drake and Alex have been open about trusting God through hardship before. Drake, best known for his song “Faith” and his resilience after a life-threatening brain bleed in 2019, has often testified that God carried him through trials.

Now, in the face of this devastating loss, he and Alex are once again drawing strength from Scripture and from their conviction that their daughter is safe in the arms of Jesus.

While the White family mourns, their words reflect the Christian hope that grief is not the end of the story. The promise of eternal life with Christ assures believers that they will one day be reunited with loved ones who have gone before.

As the couple wrote: “May Della be held in the arms of Jesus until we see her again someday.”

For their fans and fellow believers, Drake and Alex’s testimony serves as a reminder of God’s presence in sorrow and the promise of healing in His time. Even in the darkest valleys, the hope of heaven offers light.
