Country music star Dierks Bentley is opening up about his marriage — and clarifying some surprising comments that left fans curious about his relationship with his wife, Cassidy.

In a recent interview on Bobby Bones’ podcast, BobbyCast, Bentley confessed that he and Cassidy, his wife of nearly 20 years, currently sleep in separate bedrooms. The revelation sparked plenty of chatter online, with many wondering if there was trouble in their marriage. But Bentley quickly took to Instagram to set the record straight.

Bentley posted a photo of his bed, where his dog was stretched out comfortably, and explained his unique sleeping setup.

“I like bouncing around in my old single axle, leaf spring Chevy truck, but we prefer ‘independent suspension’ when it comes to sleep,” Bentley joked. “Turns out your grandparents knew what they were doing, as does most of the current world outside the US today.”

He compared their arrangement to a mullet haircut — “business up front, party in the back” — suggesting that separate beds give space for both rest and romance. Bentley added that it’s actually been a solution for his years-long struggle with sleep.

“Just like a good mullet offers business up front, party in the back, this setup allows for both types of activities this room in the house is meant for,” he wrote, encouraging other couples to try it if needed.

On the podcast, Bentley described himself as “such an animal” when it comes to sleeping. He admitted that he needs three pillows arranged precisely, and even the slightest movement from his wife can keep him awake.

“My wife will be like, ‘How’d you sleep last night?’ and we don’t even sleep in the same room right now anymore,” Bentley explained. “We’ve moved beyond that.”

Years ago, he replaced their shared bed with two separate platform beds, mattresses, and duvets, leaving a visible line between them. He compared it to the independent suspension on a truck, designed to minimize disturbance.

Despite the challenges, Bentley said he and Cassidy recently decided it’s time to “get back on track” and move back into the same room. “So, we’re going to try and move her back in this year — it’s a big plan,” he joked.

Far from being a sign of marital strain, Bentley emphasized that the arrangement has been about finding what works best for them in a busy, demanding life. The couple, who met in eighth grade, married in December 2005 and now share three children — Evalyn, 16; Jordan, 14; and Knox, 12.

“We met in eighth grade, back in Arizona,” Bentley told The Boot in 2016. “It’s a pretty crazy story of just going back and forth with the right time or the wrong time, or right place, wrong time, all that stuff… I kind of knew that that was the moment [when we reconnected].”

Now celebrating two decades of marriage, the couple is planning something special. Bentley revealed that they’ve even considered hiking Mount Kilimanjaro together to mark the milestone. “When we got married, we just eloped to Mexico,” he said. “But the older I get, the more you got to celebrate the wins.”
