Billy Ray Cyrus and Elizabeth Hurley are reportedly getting married after a whirlwind romance that few saw coming.
The 65-year-old country singer and 61-year-old British actress are engaged after more than a year of dating, sources confirmed to Page Six. The news comes after Hurley sparked engagement rumors by stepping out with a massive diamond ring.
One source dismissed speculation that the ring was simply part of Hurley’s wardrobe for her upcoming project, telling Page Six, “She’s filming ‘The ‘Burbs’; I hardly think this ring is a prop.”
Cyrus appeared to hint at the engagement himself in a cryptic Instagram post Thursday, sharing a message about his happiness alongside a ring emoji.
“This is the most fertile solid ground I have stood on in a long time,” the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer wrote.
While promoting his new single, “Party’s in the Back,” Cyrus added, “I like seeing peoples dreams come true,” before teasing, “Kinda has a ring ? to it.”
Hurley’s son, Damian, also appeared to celebrate the news by responding with a celebratory emoji.
The couple’s relationship initially surprised fans when they went public on Easter Sunday in April 2025, sharing a photo of Cyrus kissing Hurley.
The two first met while filming the 2022 holiday movie “Christmas in Paradise” but didn’t begin dating until reconnecting in February 2025.
Despite their different backgrounds, Hurley insists they have more in common than people might expect.
“There are a lot more similarities than you’d think,” she said during an appearance on the “SheerLuxe” podcast earlier this month.
“We have the same hair. Identical hair. Apart from his beard, we’re actually like twins,” she joked.
Beyond their playful similarities, the couple shares a love of quiet country living.
“Funnily enough, [Billy’s] farm in Tennessee is very similar to my farm here in Gloucestershire, so in a way it kind of feels normal,” Hurley told Page Six in May.
In a June interview with People, Hurley described their peaceful days together, which often involve gardening, watching wildlife and spending time outdoors.
“We obsessively watch birds of prey and light lots of bonfires,” she shared. “It’s bliss.”
The engagement marks another major chapter for both stars, who have experienced their share of high-profile relationships.
For Cyrus, this would be his fourth marriage. The father of six, including superstar daughter Miley Cyrus, was previously married to Cindy Smith, Tish Cyrus and Australian singer Firerose. His marriage to Firerose ended in 2024 following a contentious split that included allegations of abuse, which Cyrus denied.
Hurley was previously married to businessman Arun Nayar and was later engaged to Australian cricketer Shane Warne. She also had a longtime relationship with actor Hugh Grant.
Despite their complicated romantic histories, Cyrus has spoken openly about finding an unexpected connection with Hurley.
“There was something in the opposites of us, I think, that maybe not only got other people’s attention but even our own,” he told People in June.
Reflecting on their shared experiences with fame, personal challenges and loss, Cyrus added, “Then mix in other personal, good things and tragedies — she’s like me.”
