These seagulls look as if they are all lined up to see a concert or watch a play.  I don’t particularly like these birds, but they are fun to watch.  They like to poop all over the place, including on anyone nearby .  They make lots of noise and swoop down at you if you have any kind of food.  My friend had one grab a huge piece of her funnel cake one afternoon when we were at the beach.

One thing I noticed about seagulls is that they usually travel in groups.  Groups are good for fun and fellowship; not so good for stealing food and pooping.  I find it a bit difficult to draw a spiritual application from these creatures.   However, it is good for Christians to be surrounded by those who are like minded, so that might work.

It’s vital that we have a circle of friends on whom we can depend.  Life is full of surprises and we often need a shoulder to lean on.  I know we can always lean on Jesus, but sometimes we need a real shoulder to cry on.  Sometimes we need a real hand to hold or neck to hug.  That is one reason it’s so important to spend time together with other Christians.

The Bible says in Hebrews 10:24-25 that we should provoke one another to good works and love.  That we should gather together to exhort and encourage each other.  So gathering together is a good thing for Christians to do.

When we get together we learn more about the personal lives and needs of others.  When we fellowship around Jesus, we gain strength and knowledge from our friends.  Jesus liked to “break bread” ( share a meal) with his friends.  It draws us closer to each other and to God.  So in this one area, perhaps we should be more like the seagulls.
