One of the neatest things about the shores of Lake Erie is that there are many places where one can climb up on a big rock and just think or pray.  There are lots of these huge rocks near the Marblehead Lighthouse.  I could sit there for hours and commune with God.  The splashing of the waves against the shore is almost mesmerizing.  The air is so refreshing and the breezes always flowing.

Jesus is our ROCK.  He is our strong tower; our ever present help in times of trouble.  (Psalm 18:2-3)  He is our defense and refuge. (Psalm 94:22)  Jesus is the rock of our salvation; the rock on which the church is built. (Matthew16:18)  He is our rock of ages.  Instead of standing on the promises, I find myself sitting on the ROCK.

Sometimes I can almost imagine that I am crawling up into Father God’s lap.  It is a wonderful place to be, surrounded by His strong arms and comforted by His everlasting love.  A simple rock can take on a whole new meaning when you realize what the scriptures had to say about rocks.

Rocks are also used for building.  I wonder what kind of dwelling place we could create if we allowed ourselves to be truly built together as living stones.  In I Peter 2:5 says, ” Ye also, as lively stones are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.”

Being accepted by God through Jesus Christ is what it’s all about.  I think we all should go sit on the ROCK every day.
