People often tell me that they are trying to control their eating. Control their inclinations, their impulses, their evil ways; their thoughts, their emotions, their actions. They are trying to exercise restraint or direction over; to dominate, to command, to hold in check, curb.

Exercising control sounds like a devilishly daunting task, doesn’t it?

Here, today, a better way! Instead of trying to control our future, control how we eat, control the number that appears on the scales of injustice; let’s look at how we might want to Create It!

How to CREATE a better tomorrow!  In order to create a better tomorrow; in order to create your compelling future, you need to first have a relatively clear vision of how it might look, how it might sound and how you might feel.

They say that God is in the details. A detailed vision of the future enables to see what specific steps need to be taken to move us from ‘here’ to ‘there.’ A detailed vision can help you to close the gap between the where you are now and where you’d like to be. It can help you to build a bridge that takes your dreams and turns them into your reality.

A clear and detailed vision of your future can enable you to make those moment-to-moment choices that can bring you closer to your weight loss goals (or any goal).

The vision carries us.  It is crucial!  Imagine that you asked two friends “What do you want in life?”  One says, “To be happy.”  Period.  End of report.  No details!

But the other friend paints a vivid picture for you, “I want to be financially independent in three years, live in a ranch house in the desert, meditate every day for 3 hours facing east, and while I’m chanting, the heirloom tomatoes are growing in my vegetable garden.”

Get the point? I want “to be happy” is way too vague. Ask yourself, “What are the specifics of my dreams? The nitty-gritty, the specifics?” And then, ask yourself, “What steps are needed to move me from here to there?” And then…CREATE IT!

Remember: Instead of trying to CONTROL it all; you can more easily CREATE it!!!
