Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding may have drawn nearly 1,000 guests, but those who attended say the star-studded celebration felt remarkably intimate—and surprisingly down-to-earth.
Country music star Brad Paisley is among the latest guests to reflect on the couple’s July 3 wedding at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, describing it as “one of the least pretentious weddings” he’s ever attended despite its massive guest list.
Speaking with The Associated Press, Paisley said the invitation immediately stood out because it made recipients feel personally appreciated. Rather than revealing every detail upfront, the couple kept the location under wraps until closer to the event, creating what he called a fun “cat-and-mouse game.”
“I took this personally when I got the invite, because in the invite, it said, ‘If you’re getting this, you mean a lot to us,'” Paisley shared. After reading it, he turned to his wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and asked if she wanted to go. Her answer was an enthusiastic yes.
For Paisley, who first toured with Swift in 2007 when she was still a teenage rising star, the invitation felt like more than access to a celebrity event. He described it as a heartfelt thank-you from the bride to people who had been part of her journey.
“Ironically, one of the least pretentious weddings I’ve ever seen, or ever will see,” he said.
The generosity surrounding the wedding extended beyond the celebration itself. Ahead of the ceremony, Swift and Kelce reportedly donated $26 million to several charitable organizations, including The Store, the Nashville nonprofit founded by Brad Paisley and Kimberly Williams-Paisley that helps families facing food insecurity.
“We’re truly inspired by Taylor and Travis’s generosity to so many wonderful organizations, and extremely grateful that The Store is included among them,” the couple said in a statement. “This gift will go a long way toward helping our neighbors facing food insecurity in Nashville. What a beautiful way to celebrate the beginning of a marriage!”
Paisley wasn’t the only guest who walked away impressed. Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Camille Kostek also described a reception that emphasized celebration over celebrity. Guests surrendered their phones upon arrival, locking them in individual glass boxes until the end of the reception.
Without phones in hand, Kostek said guests were fully immersed in the evening.
“I think we didn’t have phones, and there was no sense of time in there,” she told Fox News Digital. “I think I was probably on the dance floor for five straight hours. Shoes came off. It was so much fun.”
She recalled dancing alongside country star Chris Stapleton and spotting actress Julia Roberts while Swift performed on stage during the celebration.
The phone-free policy even required a bit of planning. Ashley Williams, Kimberly Williams-Paisley’s sister, later revealed that Brad Paisley bought a traditional wristwatch for the occasion because smartwatches weren’t allowed, giving guests one of the few ways to keep track of time throughout the evening.
While celebrity weddings often make headlines for lavish displays, guests say Swift and Kelce’s celebration stood out for different reasons. Between the personal invitations, the unplugged reception and the couple’s generosity toward charitable causes, attendees described a wedding that felt centered on relationships rather than spectacle—a rare feat for one of the year’s most talked-about celebrity events.
