What was the first thing that you did this morning?  My answer to that question is almost always that I think something.  I think, “What time is it?”  “Did I sleep wrong on my shoulder again?”  “What should I have for breakfast?”  “How many emails do I have waiting for me in my in-box?”

I am going to try to challenge myself to replace my think-y “first thing” with something else, an action instead of a thought.  Maybe a stretch where I enjoy the feeling of my soft sheets for one last moment.  A deep, audible breath.  A mindful swing of my legs so I can fully experience the feeling of my feet on the floor.

What do you think of your current “first thing” habits?  If you could change them, what would you do?
