How to lose weight, weight loss tips, diets, fat loss programs – the world is filled with them.  It’s pretty amazing to me that people continue to look for some new, magical formula or solution.  It’s amazing to me that people are overweight or obese at all these days.  Don’t we already know what makes people fat?  Don’t we really know how to lose weight?

Perhaps we don’t want to hear the truth, much less follow it or do what it takes.

We’re overweight mainly due to three reasons:  

  • genetic/family histories of obesity
  • eating too much, and poor food choices
  • physical inactivity

Yes, there are more reasons that have to do with it, such as emotional problems, habits, hunger, spiritual emptiness, etc.  Yes, there’s a useful body of scientific information about hunger, satiety, and hormones. These are important elements of a satisfied and healthy life.

When it comes down to it, though, maintaining a healthy weight is about:

  • Staying healthy with regular checkups and taking good care of oneself.
  • Eating healthy foods in limited amounts.
  • Daily physical activity.

We do these things on a regular, daily basis best when we are emotionally fulfilled and in balance, living life with a mission and purpose, enjoying relationships with others, and always being connected with God.
