Beloved “Facts of Life” star Mindy Cohn is opening up about a deeply personal health battle—and doing it with the same honesty and resilience that has defined her career for decades.

The actress, best known for playing Natalie Green on the iconic ‘80s sitcom, recently revealed she had stepped away from social media to undergo cancer treatment. In a candid Instagram post, Cohn shared the reason behind her absence, writing, “Have been off social media for awhile ‘cuz I had to go kick cancer’s a–.”

Alongside the message, Cohn posted a photo of herself in a hospital bed, giving a thumbs up—an image that quickly became a symbol of strength and perseverance for fans.

Now out of the hospital, the 59-year-old actress says she is recovering and looking ahead with hope. “Recouping for another couple of weeks and then ready for my next adventure. onwards! F**K Cancer!” she added.

Cohn did not disclose what type of cancer she is currently battling, but this is not her first fight. In 2017, she revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and endured years of grueling treatment, including chemotherapy, radiation, and a double mastectomy before becoming cancer-free. Reflecting on that journey at the time, she admitted, “I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop… I was frustrated and enraged. I couldn’t control any of this. I couldn’t fix it.”

This latest chapter, however, is marked not just by hardship, but by gratitude. Cohn took time to thank the medical team that cared for her, praising the “extraordinary help of Providence Saint John’s hospital staff,” and specifically highlighting her nurses and “my hero, the phenomenal oncology surgeon.”

She also expressed deep appreciation for her inner circle, writing, “Thank you to my family… who have been my advocates and always on the ready to help me when it’s ‘my turn.’”

As news of her diagnosis spread, an outpouring of love flooded in from fellow celebrities and fans alike. Rosie O’Donnell offered encouragement, writing, “U got this girl,” while actress Holly Robinson Peete shared, “Mindy!!!! Sending love and healing energy.” Others, including Helen Hunt, Octavia Spencer, and Geena Davis, added messages of support and prayers for her recovery.

Even in the midst of a serious health battle, Cohn’s words carry a tone of determination and forward momentum. Her declaration—equal parts defiance and hope—resonated with many who have faced similar struggles.

For longtime fans, Cohn’s journey is a reminder that behind the laughter and nostalgia of shows like “The Facts of Life” is a real person navigating life’s hardest moments with courage.

Her story also serves as a powerful testament to resilience—the kind that doesn’t deny the pain but pushes forward anyway. And as she continues to recover, many are lifting her up in prayer, believing for complete healing and strength in the days ahead.
