To me, David Letterman and Jay Leno have both gone stale in the battle for late night.

On the rare occasions I have seen him, Conan O’Brien is still sharp and funny.

The problem is, I really haven’t fully followed him to TBS.

It just doesn’t feel right. It’s the same channel, after all, that George Lopez has a show on.

Lopez comes across as a nice guy, but his ads for the show aren’t funny (celebrities eating, and the color purple … egads!), so how can I expect his SHOW to make me laugh.

And Craig Ferguson … who follows Letterman, but will NEVER follow Letterman … puh-leez!

So it comes down to Kimmel and Fallon: the two Jimmys at night.

Kimmel was genius in involving funny family members in his show, while Fallon seems like a decent family guy with a mostly clean sense of humor.

Kimmel’s problem is that he seems a little dark, perhaps from his friendship with Howard Stern and former relationship with the God-loathing Sarah Silverman.

Fallon, meanwhile, is a little cloying and cutsie.

But I’ll still take either over Leno or Letterman.
