Being misunderstood in life is one of the greatest tragedies to experience. I often found myself in life explaining myself over and over again.  It hurt me deeply to be perceived a certain way.  However, one of the greatest joys in life is when you can arrive to a place where you don’t have to give an explanation for who you are.

I learned to accept myself and the fact that I probably would continue to be misunderstood by others.  I found peace in that because I realized how dynamic of an individual I was.  Moreover, I understood that my intentions have always been from a pure place.  Once I was accused by a former friend of being a user and trying to make a pass at another man’s wife.  Needless to say I was crushed and almost lost my mind. I could never do such a thing.  Anyhow, I had a neighbor who had heard all these things about me . I found myself explaining myself AGAIN.  This time, a voice said “Pervis just be consistently you.”

So in that moment I made a choice to be myself fully.  Over time the neighbor came to me and said ” Pervis you know what? Every time I see you, you always say Hi and ask me how I’m doing. You always encourage me to be better. I came to the conclusion this is who you really are. Not the lies that folks have spoken about you.”  When you come to a place of surrender in trying to defend yourself, God steps in as your defense.

Remember we have the ability to not only change our world, but the world as a whole….BE GREAT!!

Until Next Time,

Pervis
