Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, is a member of the British royal family. He is the oldest son of Charles, Prince of Wales, and Diana, Princess of Wales. Upon his birth, he has been second in line to the British Throne. His childhood years were spent living at Kensington Palace in London. At age 10, his parents separated, then later officially divorced when he was 14. On Aug. 31, 1997, Prince William awoke to a devastating report that his mother, Diana, had passed away in a car accident.
On Nov. 16, 2010, the royal engagement of Prince William to Catherine Middleton was announced. Many followed along on their journey to the alter and viewed the royal couple as a modern-day fairy tale. Unlike other royal couples who had brief courtships before getting married, William and Kate dated on and off since 2003, starting from their time in college together. The Royal Prince is currently married to The Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine, and they have three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Prince William began focusing more on his royal obligations, and philanthropic interests after his service in the military came to a close in 2013. Their charitable causes of interest surround children, the armed forces, and nature conservation. The generous Prince had over 25 charitable patronages. One organization in particular that the Prince started was "United for Wildlife," a collective of various conservation organizations with the mission of helping endangered animals and their habitats.
The British royal family has always practiced Anglicanism, a form of Christianity. In 1997, Prince William was publicly confirmed into the Anglican church. Most of the church services he attends are for official events or Christian holidays and special occasions. Although his church attendance is not made public, The Duke of Cambridge has acknowledged the importance of the Christian faith for going through tough and uncertain times.
