Kathleen Walsh was born in San Jose, California in 1967. She grew up in a Catholic household and studied at the Universtiy of Arizona. She worked as a waitress for some time before becoming a model in Japan. She also taught English while living there. She had brief roles in shows such as "Law and Order" before making her first major TV appearance in 1997 on "The Drew Carey Show." Her breakout role was that of Addison Montgomery on "Grey's Anatomy," and she has drawn critical acclaim for her portrayal of Olivia Baker on "13 Reasons Why."
