Courtney was born and raised in San Francisco. She began acting in 1986 when she made Welcome to 18 and Lucas, as well as TV appearances in Fast Times and made-for-TV movie Thanksgiving Promise.
Courtney Thorne-Smith is one of the most recognizable faces on primetime TV, starring in many roles since the 1990s. She was Georgia Thomas on Ally McBeal and Alison Parker of Melrose Place.
One of her biggest breaks came in 1992 with her role in Melrose Place, for 7 years, and left her role in Ally McBeal in 2002, presumably due to the demands of her new sitcom, where she played the role of Cheryl, opposite Jim Belushi, in According to Jim. She’s also semi-regular in Two and a Half Men.
