Jessica Simpson was born in Abilene, Texas but grew up in Dallas. Her father was a preacher and raised his 2 daughters Jessica and younger sister Ashlee in a strict household. Simpson began singing at her local Baptist church. Her career started when she signed with Columbia Records at the young age of 16. Simpson’s debut single was, “I Wanna Love You Forever,” which rose to the Top 5 of Billboard’s Hot 100.
Simpson marriage to Nick Lachey had its own MTV reality show, called Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, which lasted from 2003 to 2005 when the couple divorced. She is now married to retired NFL player, Eric Johnson, and they have a son and daughter together. In addition to singing, she has starred in several TV shows, movies, commercials, and launched a line of hair and beauty products. She also has her own shoe and handbag fashion line and has been the spokesperson for brands such as Proactive and Weight Watchers. She is a part of Operation Smile and works with the Make a Wish Foundation to help children.
