Jerome David Salinger was a writer best known for his novel "The Catcher in the Rye." Following the success of "The Catcher in the Rye" and Salinger's short story collections, Salinger became something of a recluse for more than half a century. His final work was published in 1965, and he never gave an interview after 1980. Following his death in 2010, Salinger's widow and son prepared his remaining works for publication and announced that "all of what he wrote will at some point be shared."
