Iga Świątek is a Polish professional tennis player and one of the most accomplished players of her generation. Known for her athleticism, heavy topspin and dominant clay-court game, she became the first Polish player to win a Grand Slam singles title and the first Polish player to reach World No. 1 in singles. She has won six major singles championships, including four French Open titles.

Świątek was born on May 31, 2001, in Warsaw, Poland, to Tomasz and Dorota Świątek. Her father was an accomplished rower who represented Poland in the men's quadruple sculls at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Her mother is an orthodontist. Świątek has an older sister, Agata, who competed in junior tennis before leaving the sport and later becoming a dentist.

Her father encouraged both daughters to participate in individual sports, hoping they could eventually compete at a high level.
