Amy Schumer was born in New York City and was raised in a Jewish household with her younger sister Kimberly and brother Jason. At age 9, her family's furniture business went bankrupt and her father was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis disease. Her parents divorced 3 years later and she moved to Long Island for high school, later earning her degree in theater from Towson University in Maryland. In 2013, Schumer premiered in her own Emmy-nominated show on Comedy Central, “Inside Amy Schumer.”. She wrote her first movie, Trainwreck, in which she starred with Bill Hader. Schumer is known for her feminist comedy and for not being afraid to speak her mind.
