Patrick Muldoon was an American actor, film producer, and musician best known for his television roles in the 1990s and for his appearance in the science fiction film "Starship Troopers." Muldoon was raised in the Los Angeles harbor community of San Pedro. His father, William Patrick Muldoon II, worked as a personal injury attorney, while his mother, Deanna (née Petrov), was a homemaker. He was of Irish descent on his father’s side and Croatian descent on his mother’s side.

He attended Loyola High School, a Jesuit Catholic school in Los Angeles, before enrolling at the University of Southern California (USC). At USC, Muldoon was both academically and athletically active, graduating in 1991 while also playing tight end for the USC Trojans football team.

Muldoon began his acting career in 1990 with early television appearances on shows such as "Who’s the Boss?" and "Saved by the Bell." His breakthrough came in 1992 when he was cast as Austin Reed on the NBC soap opera "Days of Our Lives." The role made him a recognizable face on daytime television, and he portrayed the character from 1992 to 1995, later reprising it briefly in 2011–2012.

He expanded into primetime television with a notable role as Richard Hart on "Melrose Place" from 1995 to 1996, further cementing his status as a prominent actor of the era.

Muldoon’s film career included his role as Zander Barcalow in Paul Verhoeven’s 1997 sci-fi film "Starship Troopers," which became a cult classic.
