Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, professionally known as Nicki Minaj, is a rapper, songwriter, and singer best known for her animated flow while rapping, musical versatility, accents, and alter egos. An influential figure in music, she gained recognition after releasing three mixtapes between 2007 and 2009. Her debut album “Pink Friday” topped the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. The single “Super Bass” reached number three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and was certified diamond by the RIAA.

Her follow-up album, “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded,” explored a dance-pop sound and debuted atop the Billboard 200, with the lead single “Starships” peaking in the top five globally. Her third album, “The Pinkprint,” delved into more personal topics, marking the return to her hip-hop roots. The lead single, “Anaconda,” peaked at number two on the Hot 100 and was the first music video by a solo female rapper to reach one billion views on YouTube. In 2018, she released her fourth album, “Queen,” which produced the top 10 single “Chun-Li.”

In 2019, “Tusa,” her collaboration with Karol G, became the longest-running number-one single on the Argentina Hot 100 chart. She’s featured on many songs and achieved her first two Hot 100 number-one singles in 2020 with “Say So,” collaborating with Doja Cat and “Trollz” with 6ix9ine. In 2022, she got her first solo number one with “Super Freaky Girl.” Referred to as the “Queen of Rap,” Minaj is one of the best-selling music artists, with over 100 million records sold worldwide. Billboard ranked her as the top-selling female rapper of the 2010s and the greatest female rapper ever.

Minaj has 22 top 10 singles on the chart, the most for any female rapper, with six being solo songs. Her accolades include eight AMA Awards, five MTV Video Music Awards, 12 BET Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, and 10 Grammy nominations. Outside of music, her TV and film career includes voice roles in the animated movies “Ice Age: Continental Drift” and “The Angry Birds Movie,” supporting roles in the movies “The Other Woman” and “Barbershop: The Next Cut” and being an “American Idol” judge. In 2016, TIME Magazine included her on the list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
