If you have sports consciousness, namely in football, the surname “Manning” carries honor. Born in his grandfather’s, uncle’s and father’s hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana. There has been a hopeful spotlight shining on Archibald Charles Manning since he was born. The patriarch is Archie Manning, whose sons are NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, hopeful NFL Hall of Famer Eli Manning, and Arch’s Dad, Cooper Manning, who has a rising name at FOX Sports.

In his freshman year at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, he was the varsity starting quarterback and kept it all four years. In Arch’s senior year, he broke two significant state records—7,268 career passing yards (formerly held by his uncle Eli) and 93 career touchdowns (formerly held by his uncle Peyton).

A five-star recruit in high school, Manning’s search for a college was kept a secret as much as possible. He visited SMU, Clemson, LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, Ole Miss, and his eventual collegiate home, Texas.

In his sophomore year, following a redshirted freshman year, Arch now has the reins of the No. 1-ranked Texas Longhorns, which is a first in the school’s esteemed history. He also has the honor of continuing his family legacy. That would be a mighty mantle for most people to carry, but that also runs in the family.

Arch Manning’s Religious Beliefs

Rooted deeply in Christianity, Arch Manning was taken to church at a young age by his grandparents and parents. In college, he has been outspoken about the importance of his Christian faith as a source of navigation through personal and athletic challenges and adversity.

Arch realized the sheer dependence he needed to maintain in his faith when he sat down with his grandfather, who shared with a younger Arch about how Archie struggled throughout the grief of his father’s suicide.

With his grandfather, father and uncles stressing the need for belief in God and love for Jesus, there was a spirit of faith in the family that helped bring Arch to the cross.

Although Arch’s father grew up in a Baptist church, the entire family grew up in a predominantly Catholic city. While there isn’t much written on what denomination Arch ascribes to in church, there is no denying that his faith is strongly Christian.
