Karoline Leavitt (born August 24, 1997) is the current White House Press Secretary. She is the youngest person ever to serve in that capacity. Prior to her appointment, she served as the national press secretary for President Trump's 2024 campaign.

Leavitt is originally from New Hampshire. She attended Saint Anselm College, a Catholic college in Manchester, New Hampshire. She graduated from Saint Anselm in 2019 with a degree in politics and communication.

Leavitt served as a volunteer for the New Hampshire Institute of Politics during her college years. She also began working for Fox News during the 2016 election. After her graduation, she began working as a writer and assistant press secretary at the White House during the first Trump administration.

After the 2020 election, Leavitt worked for Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY). She then ran for Congress in 2022 in New Hampshire's First District, losing to incumbent Chris Pappas.

Leavitt is married to Nicholas Riccio, a real estate developer whom she met during her 2022 congressional campaign. The couple became engaged in December 2023 and were married in early January 2025. They have one son, born in July 2024. In December 2025, Leavitt announced that she was pregnant with their second child.

Leavitt was raised as a Roman Catholic, attending a private Catholic high school before attending Saint Anselm College. She continues to be a practicing Roman Catholic. Leavitt credits her parents' example of hard work and determination for her success. She also acknowledges the importance of her Catholic upbringing for instilling the values that continue to guide her.

In regard to her faith and its role in her life, she stated in an interview in 2025: "My faith is incredibly important to me, I would argue, now more than ever, being in a role that is very demanding and at times controversial, and there's a lot of public pressure and discussion online about who you are and your family. And, you know, it could be difficult for someone who doesn't have faith, but with faith, all things are possible."

Leavitt also demonstrates the importance of her faith to her by beginning each day with prayer, asking for strength for the day. She also leads her team in prayer before each press briefing, asking God for confidence and the ability to communicate clearly as she answers questions and discusses the administration's policies and programs.

Leavitt's faith also shapes her view of current events. She sees a larger fight than politics – the battle between good and evil. She also sees an intersection between the political realm and the spiritual.

"I certainly believe in spiritual warfare. And I think I saw it firsthand, especially throughout the campaign trail with President Trump," she said. "And I think there certainly were evil forces. And I think that the president was saved by the grace of God and July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania [the attempted assassination], and he's in this moment for a reason."

Leavitt also acknowledges the importance of her faith in helping her to juggle the demands of a high-profile job and those of being a wife and mother. In May 2025, a photograph of Leavitt holding and feeding her son while typing in her office drew widespread attention, most of it positive.
