Jennifer Lawrence is an actress known for starring in independent dramas and action film franchises. Her films have grossed over $6 billion worldwide. Lawrence was the world’s highest-paid actress in 2015 and 2016, and she appeared in Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World list in 2013 and the Forbes Celebrity 100 list from 2013 to 2016. Lawrence started her career as a teenager with guest roles on television.

Her first significant role was as a leading cast member on “The Bill Engvall Show.” She made her film debut with a supporting role in “Garden Party” and had her breakthrough playing a poverty-stricken teen in the independent film “Winter’s Bone.” Lawrence reached stardom playing Mystique in the “X-Men” film series and Katniss Everdeen in “The Hunger Games” film series. The latter made her the highest-grossing action heroine.

Lawrence collaborated with filmmaker David O. Russell on three films, which earned her various accolades. For her role as a troubled widow in “Silver Linings Playbook,” she won the Academy Award for Best Actress, becoming the second-youngest winner at 22 years old. Lawrence won the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for playing an unpredictable wife in “American Hustle.” She also received Golden Globe Awards for both films and for her role as businesswoman Joy Mangano in the biopic “Joy.”

A series of mixed-reviewed films and media scrutiny for her role choices led to a small break from acting, but Lawrence returned with the streaming film “Don’t Look Up,” after which she produced and starred in “Causeway” and “No Hard Feelings.” In 2015, Lawrence founded the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation, which advocated for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Special Olympics. She formed the production company Excellent Cadaver in 2018 and is an active member of the anti-corruption organization RepresentUs.

Lawrence was born in Kentucky and has two older brothers. Her mother raised her to be tough like her brothers and wouldn’t allow her to play with other girls in preschool, as she deemed her “too rough” with them. Sadly, Lawrence didn’t enjoy her childhood due to social anxiety and hyperactivity and considered herself a misfit among her peers. However, she has said her anxieties vanished when performing on stage and that acting gave her a sense of accomplishment.

What religion is Jennifer Lawrence?

Lawrence identifies as being spiritual over religious. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, the actress said, “I guess I am spiritual. I’m not religious. I grew up very religious. I have a religious family, but I don’t believe in anything.” Lawrence said she wouldn’t call herself an atheist but wasn’t quick to identify with a particular belief in God. She continued, “I just believe in that thing, that something, whatever it is, that I do believe in. I don’t think it identifies as a man. To argue over what it is is ridiculous because none of us have the answer.”

However, Lawrence says she still prays because it was instilled in her as a child, and she admitted to praying to God when she feared for her life.
