James Lipton was an American scriptwriter, actor, lyricist, choreographer, academic and producer known best for being the founder and host of 'Inside the Actors Studio.' The TV program started off as a televised craft seminar for students of the Actors Studio Drama School that featured one-on-one interviews with celebrity guests. Lipton also wrote for several soap operas like Another World, The Edge of Night, and The Guiding Light, which he also acted on.
