Cade Klubnik is a college quarterback who set the bar high for what he can do in his role at Clemson University. While at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas, he won three state championships in his division. Not only did Clubnik pass for 7,426 yards and complete 86 touchdowns (with only seven interceptions), but he surpassed fellow Chapparals, Nick Foles, Sam Ehlinger, and NFL Hall of Famer Drew Brees.
His starting year at Clemson wasn’t without turmoil, but it actually benefited Klubnik. During his freshman year, the inconsistent DJ Uiagalelei, who signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2025, was the starting quarterback. Clubnik was used as the backup QB that year.
Clubnik first saw action in game one against Georgia Tech, where he commanded a drive, throwing for 49 yards and a touchdown. Twice, Uiagalelei was benched in the 2022 campaign, and Klubnik took advantage of both, against Syracuse and the ACC Championship Game against North Carolina. Clemson won both games, including the championship-winning 39-10, where he threw for 279 yards and a touchdown.
In the next two years, Auburn was his team as DJ entered the Transfer Portal to
Oregon State. Currently, Cade Klubnik has a 19-9 record with a 63.4% completion rate among 7,180 yards and 57 touchdowns. He enters the 2025 season as one of only three two-time ACC Championship Game MVPs in history.
Cade Klubnik’s Religious Beliefs
Cade Kulbnik realizes the strength it takes to play quarterback in the NCAA requires more than skill and strength; it demands faith. One of his star highlights was a November 2024 game against ACC rival Pittsburgh. Playing from behind, he put the game on his shoulders. Well, actually, in his legs as he darted for the goal line 50 yards away.
“(Reserve QB and student coach) Paul Tyson comes up to me and he goes, ‘Man, God’s in your corner.’ And at that time, I just felt peace,” Klubnik told ESPN. “I’m just sitting on the sideline praying that God would be in control, and He was.”
That proud sense of belief in Christ didn’t begin in college. When he was recruited from Westlake High School, he announced his selection to Clemson via Instagram
Set to the music of Matt Redman’s “10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord), he put on the Tigers’ hat and thanked all who helped him along the way, beginning with the Lord.
“Over the years, God has blessed me with many things — the love for the game, the drive, the passion to be better, the feeling of never being satisfied, which pushes me even harder,” he said. “I’ve been blessed with amazing coaches my whole life, since the very beginning.”
