Lamar Jackson is a football quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens. He played college football at the University of Louisville, where he won the Heisman Trophy in his sophomore year. In 2018, he was selected by the Ravens as the final first-round pick in the NFL Draft. Jackson became the Ravens’ starting quarterback in his rookie season, clinching a division title for the team and becoming the youngest quarterback to start a playoff game at 21.

The following year, Jackson set the single-season record for quarter-rushing yards, leading the league in touchdown passes and helping the Ravens obtain the top seed for their conference. He became the second unanimous MVP. In 2023, he signed a five-year contract worth $260 million, making him the highest-paid player in NFL at the time of signing.

Jackson was born to Lamar Jackson Sr. and Felicia Jones, growing up in Pompano Beach, Florida. His father died from a heart attack in 2005, when Jackson was 8 years old. He attended public schools and played football in the same Florida league as future teammate Marquise Brown. When he was 8, Jackson could throw a football 20 yards. When he got to high school, he threw a football 100 yards.

Jackson was a standout player at Boynton Beach High School. He was a successful read-option quarterback who could throw the ball and run equally well. He improved his decision-making and passing accuracy by watching hours of film every week. In two years at Boynton Beach, Jackson threw for 2,263 yards and 31 touchdowns with nine interceptions. He also ran for 1,624 yards and 22 touchdowns with a quarterback rating of 102.7. Jackson’s last high school game was against Miami Central High during the first round of the 2014 Florida High School Football Playoff 6A tournament. Sadly, his team lost 49 to 6.

Jackson also ran track in high school, posting a personal record of 11.45 seconds in the 100-meter dash in one track meet. In 2014, he was named the Lou Groza Palm Beach County High School Player of the Year.

Is Lamar Jackson religious?

Lamar Jackson grew up in a Christian family. At a press conference after signing his most recent contract extension, Jackson emphasized that he wouldn’t be where he is without God. He said, “I kept Him first at all times, no matter what I went through. I just kept my faith in Him, and now we’re here.”
