Allison Janney is a character actress who is nearly as prolific as she is versitile. She studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1984 and spent several years taking on minor or uncredited roles in televison and film. She caught her big break with the NBC political drama "The West Wing" in 1999 and won four Emmy awards for her performance on the show. In addition to working on TV, Janney has also done Off-Broadway productions including "Ladies" and performed on Broadway itself as part of "Present Laughter" and "A View From the Bridge."
