Jonathan Isaac is a professional basketball player currently with the Orlando Magic in the NBA. He spent one season playing college basketball with the Florida State Seminoles before entering the 2017 NBA Draft, where the Magic picked him sixth overall.

He was born on October 3, 1997, in The Bronx, New York, and grew up with five siblings in a lively, faith-centered household. During his middle school years, Jonathan’s family moved to Naples, Florida, where he faced the challenges of adjusting to a new environment and struggled with anxiety and the pressure to fit in. It was on the basketball court where Jonathan began to find purpose and direction, using the game to build confidence and discover his potential.

Jonathan experienced a significant growth spurt during his teenage years, transforming from a guard into a versatile forward. He attended Barron G. Collier High School before moving to the International School of Broward, and then to IMG Academy for a postgraduate year, where he further developed his skills and gained attention as a top basketball recruit.

Jonathan played one season of college basketball at Florida State University, where he quickly made an impact with his defensive abilities, athleticism, and willingness to learn. During his freshman year, he averaged solid numbers in points and rebounds, helping lead his team to the NCAA Tournament. His performances earned him recognition as one of the top prospects in the country, leading him to declare for the NBA draft after his freshman season.

Jonathan was selected sixth overall in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic, beginning his professional career with high expectations. His rookie season, however, was marked by injuries that limited his playing time, but he showed flashes of his defensive potential and athleticism whenever he was on the court.

In his second season, Jonathan began to find his rhythm, securing a spot in the starting lineup and posting career-best numbers in points, rebounds, and blocks. Unfortunately, injuries continued to challenge Jonathan’s career. In December 2019, he suffered a knee injury, and in August 2020, he tore his ACL during a game, which sidelined him for the entire 2020–2021 and 2021–2022 seasons. Despite these setbacks, Jonathan remained committed to his recovery, returning to the court in January 2023, where he showcased his defensive skills and perseverance after more than two years away from professional play.

Jonathan later signed a contract extension with the Magic, reflecting the team's belief in his potential and his commitment to the franchise. His resilience and ability to bounce back from adversity have made him a respected figure within the organization and among fans who admire his dedication to the game.

Off the court, Jonathan lives a grounded and disciplined life. He married his longtime fiancée, Takita Nicole Thomas, in September 2021. His faith became publicly visible in July 2020 when he chose to stand during the national anthem while his teammates and other players kneeled to protest racial injustice. Jonathan explained that while he supported the desire to fight injustice, he believed that the ultimate solution to the brokenness in the world could only be found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He shared that all people, regardless of race or background, need God’s grace, and that his faith compelled him to stand for what he believed was a message of hope and unity.
