TreVeyon Henderson is an American professional football player who rose to prominence as a running back at Ohio State before joining the New England Patriots of the National Football League. Known for his speed and big-play ability, Henderson helped Ohio State win a national championship before becoming a second-round NFL draft pick.

TreVeyon Henderson was born Oct. 22, 2002, in Hopewell, Virginia, to Lakeesha Hayes and Trenton Henderson. His parents separated when he was young, and Henderson was primarily raised by his mother alongside his brothers.

Henderson has spoken about growing up around poverty, crime and violence in Hopewell. His mother worked multiple jobs to support the family and encouraged her sons to participate in sports in part to keep them away from trouble. Henderson began playing football as a child and eventually followed his older brother, Ronnie Walker Jr., into the sport.

At Hopewell High School, Henderson developed into one of the country's top football recruits. As a junior, he rushed for 2,424 yards and 45 touchdowns while helping Hopewell win a second consecutive state championship. He finished his high school career with more than 4,000 rushing yards and 50 touchdowns and was named the 2019 Gatorade Virginia Football Player of the Year.

Henderson did not play his senior season after Virginia postponed fall high school sports because of the COVID-19 pandemic. A five-star prospect considered the nation's top running back recruit, he enrolled early at Ohio State in January 2021. Henderson was also a strong student, graduating high school with a 4.0 GPA.

Henderson made an immediate impact at Ohio State. As a freshman in 2021, he rushed for 1,248 yards and 15 touchdowns and added 312 receiving yards and four scores. In his third college game, he rushed for 277 yards against Tulsa, breaking Archie Griffin's Ohio State freshman single-game rushing record.

A foot injury limited Henderson during his sophomore season, but he rebounded in 2023 and earned first-team All-Big Ten honors. Rather than enter the NFL Draft after his junior year, Henderson returned to Ohio State for the 2024 season. He rushed for 1,016 yards and 10 touchdowns as the Buckeyes won the College Football Playoff national championship.

Henderson finished his Ohio State career with 3,761 rushing yards and 42 rushing touchdowns, ranking fifth in school history in rushing yards when he departed. He graduated with a degree in sport industry.

The New England Patriots selected Henderson with the 38th overall pick in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He appeared in all 17 regular-season games as a rookie, rushing for 911 yards and nine touchdowns while catching 35 passes for 221 yards and another score. He helped New England reach Super Bowl LX and was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

Henderson is the middle of three brothers. His older brother, Ronnie Walker Jr., played college football at Indiana and Virginia, while his younger brother, Kesean Henderson, became a highly recruited quarterback.

Henderson has generally kept his romantic life private. He announced his engagement to his longtime girlfriend in September 2025. The couple later married privately, with Henderson announcing their marriage in February 2026.

TreVeyon Henderson's Religious Beliefs

Henderson is an outspoken Christian whose faith has become central to his life and public identity. He has said he did not grow up religious and initially built much of his identity around football, financial success and his desire to provide for his family.

His outlook began changing after injuries disrupted his sophomore season at Ohio State. Henderson has publicly discussed struggling with depression, suicidal thoughts and sleep paralysis and said Christian teammates helped him study the Bible and understand the Gospel. He became a Christian in 2023 and has credited his relationship with Jesus Christ with transforming his priorities.

“When I met Jesus, He filled me with the love that I’d been looking for in football and money and my family and women,” Henderson told Sports Spectrum.

While at Ohio State, Henderson joined teammates in public worship events and frequently spoke about his faith. He has continued that outreach since entering the NFL, including speaking at Christian events and youth football camps and regularly sharing Scripture and Christian messages through social media.

Henderson has emphasized that his identity comes from Christ rather than his accomplishments on the football field. In 2026, he wrote publicly that “apart from Jesus I can’t do anything.”

During his rookie NFL season, Henderson also used the league's My Cause My Cleats initiative to support Global Christian Relief, an organization serving persecuted Christians around the world. His custom cleats featured Christian imagery and Matthew 5:10, and Henderson said the perseverance of Christians facing persecution encourages him to be bolder about his own faith in the United States.
