Edward Thomas “Tom” Hardy is an English producer, former model, and actor. Hardy was born and raised in London, England.

He is the only child of comedian and author Edward Hardy and his artist mother Anne. During his adolescent years, Hardy struggled with alcoholism, drug addiction and getting in trouble often. As he grew out of that phase of his life,

Hardy decided he wanted to pursue acting and get professional training.

After his rocky upbringing, Hardy began to study acting at the Drama Centre London. "When other schools would be doing, sort of, 30 hours, we were doing 60. And we'd be doing stuff that would prepare you in a very different way." Hardy spoke of the school in a 2002 interview with IGN.

He put in a lot of hard work and really focus on improving his craft. His hard work paid off evidently through the many film credits he would go on to land. Shortly after graduating, he starred in Ridley Scott’s “Black Hawk Down” for his acting debut. Hardy is most known for his starring parts in movies like “Inception,” “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “The Revenant.”

Hardy had a son, Louis, with his ex-girlfriend, Rachel Speed. They are currently not together. He wed Sarah Ward in 1999 but the couple divorced in 2004. Hardy expressed that drug addiction was the reason behind the split and he checked into rehab to fix it. Currently, he is married to fellow English actress Charlotte Riley. The couple have been married since 2014 and they have two children together.

Hardy was elected Commander of the Order of the British Empire for his acting career services.

The successful actor doesn’t speak publicly about his faith, but he is presumed to be raised Catholic due to his large tattoo of the Virgin Mary.
