Grammy-nominated Nipsey Hussle was an American rapper and songwriter from Los Angeles. He was murdered outside of his store, Marathon Clothing, in South Los Angeles on March 31, 2019.
Born Ermias Davidson Asghedom, he emerged from the West Coast hip hop sense in the mid-2000. In 2010, Hussle founded the record label All Money In, which he debuted with the release of “The Marathon,” the rapper’s fifth original mix tape. Throughout his career Hustle collaborated with several successful music artists including Kendrick Lamar, Drake, YG, Ty Dolla Sign, Meek Mill and Young Thug.
Hussle was scheduled to meet with the LA Police Commissioner and other members of the LAPD the day before his murder to discuss ways to stop gang violence. After news of his death, dozens of celebrities expressed their shock and condolences on social media. Singer Bruno Mars thanked Hussle for "blessing so many people. ... to "talk about ways he could help stop gang violence and help us help kids.
