Jennifer Garner is an actress. She studied theater at Denison University and started acting as an understudy for the Roundabout Theatre Company in New York City. In 1995, she debuted onscreen in the TV movie “Zoya.” She also had a starring role on the Fox show “Time of Your Life” and in the war film “Pearl Harbor” and the comedy “Catch Me If You Can.” Garner gained recognition for her role as CIA officer Sydney Bristow in the ABC series “Alias,” which earned her a Golden Globe and four Primetime Emmy nominations.

Garner has also starred in films like “13 Going on 30” and played Elektra in the movies “Elektra” and “Daredevil.” Her other acting credits include “Juno,” “Valentine’s Day,” and “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.” Garner’s other film credits include “Dallas Buyers Club” and family films like “Love, Simon,” “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” and “The Adam Project.” Garner works as an activist for early childhood education, serving as a board member of Save the Children USA.

She’s also the co-founder and chief brand officer of the organic baby food company Once Upon a Farm. Garner is also an advocate for anti-paparazzi campaigns among celebrity children. Jennifer Garner was born in Houston, Texas but moved to West Virginia when she was three. Her father, William, worked as a chemical engineer, while her mother, Patricia, was a homemaker and English teacher at a local college.

She has two sisters and described herself as the middle child who sought to differentiate herself from her older sister. As teens, she and her sisters weren’t allowed to paint their nails, wear makeup, dye their hair, or pierce their ears. Garner has joked that her family’s worldview was “practically Amish.” Garner enrolled at Denison University in 1990, changing her major from chemistry to theater.

She spent the fall semester of 1993 studying at the National Theater Institute at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Connecticut. During her college summers, Garner worked in summer stock theatre. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theater performance in 1994.

As a child, Garner attended a United Methodist Church every Sunday and attended Vacation Bible School. In an interview, Garner shared that she and her ex-husband Ben Affleck took their children to her West Virginia church to get baptized. In a separate interview, Garner shared that she would’ve become a minister if she didn’t pursue her acting career.
