De'Aaron Fox is an American professional basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs. He grew up in Texas and attended Cypress Lakes High School outside Houston. He was recognized as one of the top high school point guards in the nation and averaged over 32 points per game as a senior. He also averaged over 7 rebounds and nearly 5 assists per game that year.

In addition to his high school play, Fox participated in AAU basketball with the Houston Hoops of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. His teammates included future NBA players Justise Winslow, Justin Jackson, and Kelly Oubre Jr. His play in both high school and on the AAU circuit led to his recruitment and eventual enrollment at the University of Kentucky for the 2016-2017 season.

Fox played well for Kentucky during his freshman year, averaging 16 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists per game. He helped lead the Wildcats to the SEC tournament championship, scoring 18 points in the championship game victory over Arkansas. Fox was named MVP of the SEC tournament. He also performed well for Kentucky in the NCAA tournament, helping the club reach the Elite Eight, where they lost to eventual champion North Carolina, 75-73.

Following his freshman season at Kentucky, Fox declared for the NBA draft, stating that he was ready to "live out my dream." The Sacramento Kings chose him with the fifth pick in the 2017 NBA draft. He averaged over 11 points and 4 assists per game in his rookie season, beginning to establish himself as an NBA player. He continued to improve each season, eventually averaging over 26 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds per game in the 2023-24 season. That year, he also led the league in steals with 2 per game.

The 2022-23 season saw the Kings make the playoffs for the first time in their history. Fox averaged over 27 points, 5 rebounds, and nearly 8 assists for the playoffs, although the Kings lost to Golden State in the first round of the 2023 playoffs.

Despite his continued growth and improvement, the Kings were unable to build on their 2023 playoff run during Fox's time with the team. Before the trade deadline in the 2024-25 season, Fox was traded to the San Antonio Spurs as part of a three-team trade. He performed very well, notching 24 points and 13 assists in his very first game in San Antonio. For the remainder of that season, he averaged nearly 20 points and 7 assists per game, along with over 4 rebounds per game. However, due to an injury, he suffered tendon damage to his left pinkie and had season-ending surgery. The Spurs signed Fox to a four-year, $229 million max extension after the 2024-25 season, pairing him with their latest draft pick, Victor Wembanyama, for years to come.

De'Aaron Fox has publicly identified as a Christian and regularly posts Christian messages on his social media feed. He also demonstrates his faith through his participation in community work on several fronts. For example, he established the Fox Whole Family Foundation in honor of his mother, a breast cancer survivor. This foundation advocates for breast cancer early screening and detection, and works with medical agencies to provide resources and assistance to families dealing with cancer.

Fox also works with youth sports groups in his hometown of Katy, Texas. He has hosted sports camps, supplied sports gear and worked with other agencies to provide holiday gifts to families in unsettled housing situations. Finally, he has participated in other community relief activities. For example, he donated funds to hurricane relief efforts in Houston and has spoken out on social justice issues with the NBA Players' Association.
