Robert Downey Jr. has acted in critical roles such as Iron Man, Chaplin, and Wonder Boys. He is the son of avant-garde filmmaker, Robert Downey, Sr. He made his first appearance in the 1980s and his breakthrough performance was in 1987 with Less Than Zero, when he played a cocaine-addicted Julian Wells. Unfortunately, Downey claims to have related to the character’s abuse problems within his own life.
Downey was supposedly introduced to drugs at the young age of 8 by his father and developed an addiction problem by his 20s. Despite his issues, his career kept growing and he became an A-List actor. He married Deborah Falconer in 1992 and had one son but his substance abuse problems continued throughout their marriage and she finally divorced him in 2004. In 2005, he Married Susan Levin and had another son and a daughter. He has apparently been able to stay clean since.
