She studied classical ballet at a young age for 9 years but eventually pursued acting and landed several roles as a dancer for music videos. Her Spanish movie debut was in Jamon Jamon, in 1992 and when she was 25, she moved to California and starred in Woman on Top. She won her first Academy Award for her role in the Woody Allen film, Vicky Christina Barcelona in 2008.
Cruz had a 3 year relationship with Tom Cruise after they worked together on the film called, “Vanilla Sky,” but it ended in 2004. Late, in 2010, Cruz married her Vicky Christina Barcelona co-star, Spanish actor Javier Bardem after dating since early filming in 2007. They have 2 children together.
Cruz is also active in the fashion and beauty industry. She owns a clothing store in Madrid and designs jewelry and handbags with her younger sister for a company in Japan. She is also a spokesperson for French cosmetics company L’Oreal to promote their products and has appeared in print ads for Mango clothing company.
