Jalen Carter plays professional football for the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL. He attended the University of Georgia, where he played for the back-to-back national championship teams. He was also named a unanimous All-American defensive tackle for the 2022 collegiate season. Following his college career, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft (9th overall). He earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2024 and helped the Eagles win Super Bowl LIX the following season.

Carter has experienced some difficulties during his college and pro careers. In January 2023, following Georgia's second national championship, Carter and other members of the Georgia football family were involved in a fatal car accident. Police believe that the accident occurred while two vehicles were drag racing. Carter was driving one of the vehicles, and Chandler LeCroy, a member of the Georgia football staff, was driving the other. LeCroy's vehicle left the road, striking utility poles and trees, and her passenger, Georgia football player Devin Willock, was ejected from the vehicle. LeCroy was determined to have a blood alcohol content of 0.197, more than twice the legal limit. Both LeCroy and Willock died as a result of their injuries. Carter was charged with reckless driving and street racing for his part in the crash, and pleaded no contest to the charges.

The 2025 NFL season also did not begin well for Carter. On the first play of the first game of the season, Carter was ejected for spitting on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. Prescott appeared to have spit in the direction of Carter, although onto the ground; Carter then spit on Prescott, resulting in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and his ejection from the game.

Carter was raised by his mother, Tonique Brown, in Apopka, Florida. His brother, Luke Huey, is a minister at Bread of Life Church in Macon, Georgia. Both his mother and his brother have influenced Carter in matters of faith. His brother will often contact him to ask if he has any prayer requests or to share Scripture with Carter. In the days leading up to the 2023 draft, Carter's family prayed that the Eagles would select him. When Philadelphia drafted him, his family credited God for answering their prayers.

Carter has credited his mother for her positive influence on him. She taught him perseverance, never letting him give up on anything. His father, Jermaine Carter, also credits Jalen's mother, calling her Jalen's "backbone" and stating that she keeps Jalen "grounded."

For his part, Jalen recognizes his family as his priority in working hard and succeeding. Prior to his rookie season, he stated, "Just growing up and seeing what my mom went through to get me where I'm at now. Now I can put a smile on her face. And me and my brother, when I was younger, I would be like, 'I'm going to the league, I'm going to make millions.' Now that we're here, it's just like, 'Wow'…It's now happening, and I get to make my mom smile."

Thankfully for Carter's growth and maturing, he has other believers around him on the Eagles. Both his head coach, Nick Sirianni, and the team's quarterback, Jalen Hurts, are outspoken in expressing their faith. Although Carter does not speak publicly much about his faith, it has clearly impacted him in numerous ways.
