Gwendoline Tracey Philippa Christie is an English actress and model best known for her portrayal of Brienne of Tarth in the HBO series "Game of Thrones" and the First Order stormtrooper leader Captain Phasma in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and "Star Wars: The Last Jedi." She trained extensively as a gymnast when she was a child, but a spine injury ended her hopes of continuing the sport. Instead, she showed an interest in acting and modeling. She was told that her height would keep her from succeeding, but she was inspired to continue pursuing her goal after watching Tilda Swinton in "Orlando."
