Joe Burrow is a quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals. After a short stint with the Ohio State Buckeyes, Burrow played college football for the LSU Tigers, winning the Heisman Trophy in 2019 and the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship as a senior. He was chosen by the Bengals first overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.

After injuries shortened his rookie season, Burrow rebounded in his second year, leading the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, and an appearance in Super Bowl LVI. In his three seasons as the Bengals’ QB, Burrow has led the team to five postseason wins, the same amount won in franchise history before drafting him. For his calmness under pressure, Burrow has been nicknamed “Joe Brrr” and “Joe Cool” by other players and sportswriters.

Burrow was born in Ames, Iowa, in 1996, the son of Jim and Robin Burrow. His father is a former coach and football player whose career lasted over 40 years. Burrow was born when his father was on the coaching staff at Iowa State University. A 2019 Sports Illustrated states, “The Burrow athletic lineage dates back nearly a century.” The family eventually moved to Ohio after Jim accepted a job at Ohio University.

Burrow attended Athens High School in The Plains, Ohio, leading the school to three consecutive playoff appearances and the school’s first seven playoff wins in school history. During his tenure, he passed for 11,416 yards with 157 passing touchdowns, rushing for 2,067 yards with 27 rushing touchdowns. As a senior, in 2014, he was awarded the state’s Mr. Football Award and Gatorade Player of the Year award. He was also an excellent basketball player named first-team all-state at point guard his senior year. Burrow was rated a four-star football recruit and was the eighth-highest-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2015. He committed to Ohio State for football in 2014. However, Burrow eventually transferred to LSU, where he won a National Championship.

Is Joe Burrow religious?

In an interview, Burrow was asked if he believed in God. Burrow said that he does believe in God and that his faith is important to him. Burrow went on to say that he thinks everyone’s beliefs are personal and should be respected. He also said that he thinks it’s essential for people to have something to believe in, whether God or something else.
