Amy Coney Barrett is a former attorney who is now set to be confirmed as the newest supreme court judge, following the recent passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Before her confirmation into the Supreme Court, Barrett was a distinguished professor at Notre Dame Law School, which is also her alma mater. She started gaining national attention in recent years for her conservative and catholic beliefs. In 2017,  Barrett was nominated by President Trump for a seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the seventh circuit, where she continued to receive criticism for her views on abortion, immigration and the affordable healthcare act. The Louisiana native shares seven children with her husband, Jesse Barrett, who is a former federal prosecutor and Notre Dame alum.
