Born in Ladysmith, British Columbia, Canada, Pamela Anderson has been a massive success and sometimes a victim of her success. She was raised in a modest environment. Her father was a furnace repairman, and her mother was a waitress.

Surprisingly, Anderson thought she was going to be a jazz musician in grade school. There, she was a soloist who specialized in “scat” music, similar to jazz legends Ella Fitzgerald, Louie Armstrong or Al Jarreau. She was also active in sports on the high school football team.

Unfortunately, life wasn’t kind to Pamela growing up, as she has been vocal about sexual abuse she experienced as a child, victimized by a female babysitter, from ages 6 to 10, raped when she was 12 by a man twice her age, then at age 25, she was sexually assaulted by a group of her boyfriend’s friends.

Despite her tragic childhood, fame loomed for the young starlet when she moved to Vancouver to become a fitness instructor. It was during a CFL football game that Pamela was discovered, popping up on a Jumbotron. By the time the game was over, someone with Labatt’s Beer offered her a modeling contract. A year later, she started a 22-year relationship with Playboy, which thrust her into super-stardom.

Following her cover shoot in 1990, she was offered a role as C.J. Parker on Baywatch, which enjoyed 11 seasons on TV. While her work was steady, she is more known for an unstable love life. She has married Dan Hayhurst, Rick Salomon (twice) and Kid Rock, but it all began with “the tape” and her first husband, Tommy Lee, the drummer of Motley Crue.

Anderson has used her platform for important causes that she continues to advocate today. Most importantly to her is being vocal for animal rights and partnering with PETA for the past few decades.

Pamela Anderson’s Religious Beliefs

While Pamela Anderson wasn’t aware of God during her tumultuous childhood, she discovered grace and peace later in life.

There aren’t many mentions of church attendance or working with a particular denomination, but in a 2002 interview with the BBC, Pamela shared that she was leading her children and friends with “weekly Bible readings in Sunday school.”

“I’m teaching at my sons’ Sunday school. It’s about reading the Bible, getting out jelly beans, and setting a good example for the kids,” she said. “There have been bad times and good times, and I have had religion to get me through. I think it’s essential, as I’ve always believed in God. It’s just that I've joined a new church and my kids are at Sunday school.”

More recently, she was the subject of a 2023 Netflix documentary. She said that she always stops to give money to “every homeless person” she sees because “one of them might be Jesus.”

The tabloid TMZ spotted her wearing a “Jesus is my homeboy T-shirt,” which went viral in 2024.
